This sheet is psychoeducation, not permission to harm. Goal: reduce risk, build honesty with a clinician, and separate shame from help-seeking.

  • ☐Using to cope with grief, shame, or pain is common — change is still possible
  • ☐Mixing alcohol with meds or driving while impaired — highest risk to cut first
  • ☐Tell a clinician what you use; many cultures hide this — safety beats reputation here
  • ☐Withdrawal from alcohol or benzos can be medical — do not stop alone without advice

Safer-use ideas (pick what fits — not all apply)

  • ☐Plan use limits before the first drink/dose
  • ☐Eat, hydrate, and avoid using alone when possible
  • ☐Naloxone / local crisis numbers if opioids are involved (region-specific)
  • ☐Replace one high-risk night with a check-in call or meeting
